Police made two arrests yesterday in connection with investigated cases of illegal drug possession and illegal possession of a firearm in the province of Nicosia.
According to a statement from the Police, members of YKAN, having a court warrant, proceeded to arrest a 27-year-old resident of a village in the province of Nicosia as he had testified during the investigation for the case of locating an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) which , on January 12, 2021.
According to the examined data, as it is reported, around 5 in the afternoon of the 12th of January, a drone landed next to a citizen in Nicosia, from which hung a package, containing a quantity of cannabis, weighing about 60 grams. The citizen notified the Police, members of which went to the scene where they received the drone and the quantity of drugs.
The 27-year-old was arrested at police custody, where he is being investigated for another case of illegal possession of drugs, firearms and explosives.
The 27-year-old was initially arrested on the morning of February 21st when during a search of YKAN members, at his home, a loaded pistol with seven cartridges, the amount of € 4,750, one and a half grams of white powder and two packages were found and confiscated. contained cannabis weighing a total of about 25 grams.
For the same case, a 45-year-old resident of Larnaca province was arrested yesterday on a court warrant and detained. His arrest was followed by a search of his home, where a small amount of cannabis, weighing 0.88 grams, was found and confiscated.
