Mandatory ten-day quarantine hotel stay in the 33 red list countries due to coronavirus will take effect in the UK on 15 February.
These are the countries of South America and Portugal, which are associated with the Brazilian strain of the coronavirus, of South Africa, which are associated with the South African strain, as well as the United Arab Emirates.
The measure was announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last month. The opposition describes the delay in implementing the measure as “incomprehensible”, but the government responds that it takes time to secure and prepare adequate hotel rooms, for a total of about 28,000.
Arrivals in England must also have proof of a negative diagnostic test that will be done within 72 hours before the trip.
The Scottish Local Government has announced that compliant quarantine in pre-selected accommodation there will affect all international arrivals from all over the world.
