The tourist season is expected to fluctuate in the hotel industry at about the same levels as in 2023 but behind in 2019, with the exception of July 2024 which arrivals fluctuated at the levels of 2019, the President of the Paphos Hotel Association, Euripides Loizidis, told KYPE.
Mr Loizidis pointed out that although the winter started satisfactorily for the hotel industry of Paphos until March, April and May fluctuated at the same levels as 2023, June noted a slowdown compared to 2019 (-5.5% from 2019 and +5.5% from 2023), while July was, as he said, a "strange" month during its expression.
In particular, he said, July was better compared to 2023 and compared to 2019 in terms of arrivals to Cyprus.
However, he noted that this was not reflected in traffic. in Pafos hotels and how this is due to airbnb type accommodations or overnight stays in occupied properties or a combination of the two. He further pointed out that the length of stay of visitors to Cyprus has decreased from 10.5 days, on average, which was earlier to 7 days and due to the wider economic crisis.
In in his statements to KYPE, Mr. Loizidis also mentioned that August is a satisfactory month, especially due to the attraction of local tourism.
For September and October, the President of the Association of Hoteliers of Paphos said that the first indications are satisfactory in terms of occupancy, hoping that nothing unexpected will arise due to the situation that prevails in neighboring countries.
