Green light was given by the Council of Ministers in today's session, in relation to the plan of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to upgrade accommodation in the mountains, countryside and remote areas. This is a project of the Recovery and Resilience Fund which is expected to absorb a fund of 10 million euros. According to the statements of Deputy Minister S. Perdio, the sponsorship amounts to 75% for units operating in the mountains, 65% for rural accommodations and 50% for accommodations that are lagging behind in terms of tourism. The plan is expected to be announced by the end of February.
Eligible costs
Eligible costs are expected to include upgrades that will improve the visitor experience, such as the modernization of the hotels, the aesthetics of their interior spaces, the provision of wi-fi in all rooms, the implementation of digital systems for check in and check out, the use of digital technology for promotion in social media management, etc. The project will not focuses on building extensions and increasing beds but will focus on the guest experience, a point where the majority of hotels in the countryside and arid areas have lagged behind.
