The total debt of the Central Government amounted to €23.829 billion on June 30, 2023 , according to data published on its website by the Public Debt Management Office on Friday. Compared to the previous quarter, the debt increased by €700 million.

In detail, €825.8 million refers to the total debt in domestic securities, of which €74.4 million is treasury bills, the €395.2 million domestic bonds and the €356.3 million bonds for natural persons or savings certificates. In addition, €14.45 billion are foreign securities and specifically European medium-term bonds. Furthermore, the total debt in loans amounted to €8.55 billion, of which €8.3 billion are foreign loans and €250 million are domestic loans.

It is noted that in the debt of the central government the debt to the Social Insurance Fund, the Legal Entities under Public Law included in the Central Government and the Local Self-Government Authorities is not included. The above debt constitutes approximately 99% of the debt of the General Government on June 30, 2023.
