At €40 million, the additional cost to the public due to the increased ATA

At €40 million will be the additional cost for the public due to the payment of ATA at 66.7% (from 50%)  of last year's annual inflation, as validly informed by KYPE.

Besides, the Ministry of Finance intends to submit an amending budget within June, so that the increased ATA will be paid following the new agreement of the social partners to pay it at 66.7% of inflation with effect from June 1.

< p>As stated in a circular of the Director General of the Ministry of Finance, Giorgos Pantelis, the Ministry of Finance intends to amend note 14 of the First Table of Expenditures of the 2022 Budget Law, through the submission of an amending Budget Bill within June 2023, so that the salaries of officials and of employees and the pensions of civil service pensioners be adjusted from 1 June 2023 by paying 66.7% of the increase in the underlying consumer price index for the calculation of the ATA of the previous year, provided that during the second and third quarters of year preceding the reference year shows a positive growth rate.

It is recalled that the underlying consumer price index registered an increase of 8.71% in 2022.

As stated, the indexation allowance from 1 June 2023 and for a period of seven months increases by 5.81%, from 320.05% in 2022 to 344.45% above the basic salaries, with a minimum allowance of €12,960 i.e. &euro ;3,762,448X344,45/100).

This allowance will be taken into account for purposes of calculating the salaries of officials/employees/salaried employees in the basic  of which any part of the indexation allowance has not been incorporated.

It is also noted that the provisions of the circular are fully applied to the salaries of the officials, employees and pensioners of the Entities of the General Government, State Organizations and State Enterprises.

Finally, it is pointed out that with regard to the entities whose annual budget was passed into law, the amendment of the passed legislation will not be required, as the issue will be regulated in its entirety by amending note 14t of the On Budget Law of 2023.
