The General Secretary of the CoE of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou will be the head of the party delegation that will hold tomorrow, Tuesday, February 1, a meeting with the President of the Republic for energy.
AKEL Press Release states that the meeting takes place at the request of the Secretary General. of K.E. of AKEL, as has been made public in his letter to the President, dated January 18, 2022, in order to discuss the serious energy security issues facing Cyprus.
The meeting will take place at 9:45 am, at the Presidential Palace.
It is recalled that in his letter to the President of the Republic, the General Secretary of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, requested a meeting in order to discuss the serious risks, as he noted, for the energy security of the country. These risks, according to Mr. Stefanou, arise from the delay in the arrival of natural gas, but also from the situation that the EAC is facing. He pointed out that the delay in the arrival of natural gas causes various problems and high costs in the production of electricity.
Mr. Stefanou also stressed that the long delay in the arrival of natural gas, together with the major problems of understaffing of the EAC, raise important issues for the energy security of the country, and add unbearable costs to the consumer.
