The authorities are investigating an attack on a convict by a fellow inmate in the central prisons, following a complaint by a Greek Cypriot serving a prison sentence.
According to information from the police, the two persons allegedly were in the canteen of the penitentiary and for reasons unknown so far they argued with each other.
According to the same information, one prisoner allegedly tried to strangle the other, however, another inmate intervened and separated them.
The incident was reported by another person, also a prisoner in the central prison.

The case is being investigated by the TAE of Nicosia, receiving statements from prisoners and prison guards, while closed circuits that seem to have recorded the incident are also expected to be taken into account.
