The discussion, which started in relation to the eight recruitments of people who had started working as associates in the Parliament during the Presidency of Marios Karoyan, brought yesterday the intervention of Odysseas Michailidis. The Auditor General wrote about another scandalous case of recruitment, which developed differently but has a similar background.

In his post, Odysseas Michailidis also attaches the relevant letter of the Audit Service to the Parliament. “Our letter to BTA dated. 23.4.2014: 8 persons, with the consent of the Parliament and the Government, remained after the departure of PtB in 2011, while they started as clerks in his office. The report at the time states, among other things: “It is noted, however, that, according to a letter from the Legal Service, 12.11.2013, it was decided that the employment of the above continue based on the existing arrangements and payment of their earnings from 1.8.2013-11.11.2013 with debit of the advance payment account “. Then, the House of Representatives with a letter dated. 12.11.2013 hired the above persons for the period 12.11.2013-30.4.2014 for the performance of office duties. Regarding the above, the following are noted:

In the explanatory memorandum of the Budget Laws of the years 2008-2014 in article 02.106 “Additional Auxiliary Services” there is a reference to the employment of temporary officials in the Office of the President in addition to the Director and the Special Adviser.
The President of the Republic was asked about this yesterday, pointing out that “it is not possible to selectively refer to associates of the President when there are precedents in the Parliament itself and not for one, but for eight specific employees”.
Asked if he was referring to Mr Karoyan for the eight, the president said: “I am not referring to any of them. “I am referring to what happened in Parliament and it is up to either the Auditor General or anyone else to investigate it and find out what has happened.”
The information, however, insists that there is intense discomfort in the Presidential Palace over the position of the Democratic Party on the issue in support of the controversial amendment to the Budget. However, they are also particularly annoyed by the statements made by its president, Mario Karoyan.
Circles from the Democratic Party do not hide their own dissatisfaction with the issue, indicating that for the sake of the support of their deputies the budget is being voted and at the same time no amendments of the opposition have been passed. They also reiterate that DIPA is not a given for anyone and that it will operate in the public interest on the basis of what they have before them each time. They even emphasize that DIPA will not open a dialogue for the presidential elections before March and that those who opened the pre-election prematurely are the government camp, which is even burning for the approval of the reforms.
