The Plan of the Next Day with 100 policy axes, which are summarized in 8 pillars, was presented on the evening of Monday July 4 by the president of the Democratic Alert and candidate for President of the Republic, Averof Neophytou. The presentation of the Plan took place as part of an event in Eleftherias Square in Nicosia, for the 46th anniversary of the establishment of the faction.

According to Averof Neofytou, the 100 policy axes are the guidelines of the plan that the Democratic Alarm has for the next day of the country. A plan, “which originates from the values, philosophy and ideas of the Democratic Alarm, is based on the significant work of our ten-year government and was sculpted through a massive, democratic and open to all, long-term dialogue”, adds the president of DISY .

“I believe that from now on Cyprus should prioritize the issue of applying for NATO membership. As well as the fact that hydrocarbons and security can unlock the Cyprus issue,” said the DISY president, among others.

The Design of The following day, noted Mr. Neophytou, he fully lays the foundations for:

  1. A free and united Cyprus. Which is not compatible with possession. For an extroverted and safe country, which seeks regional, European and international cooperation and takes advantage of its geostrategic and geopolitical position.
  2. A resilient and sustainable Cyprus. Which also faces the new crisis. For a country attractive for investments, with a solidly founded and competitive economy, through a dynamic and sustainable development model.
  3. A modern and digital Cyprus. Where its structures meet the needs of the new era. For a country that facilitates the citizen every day and builds a new regional center of technology and innovation in the region.
  4. A green Cyprus. To become a model of green transition. For a country of smart cities, smart transport and smart energy, exploiting its unique natural properties and wealth.
  5. A Cyprus with a high quality of life. Which establishes modern, green, safe cities and develops life in the countryside. For a country that protects the environment and highlights its culture and sports.
  6. A Cyprus of solidarity. Which ensures social cohesion and decent living for all. For a country with the best possible health services, which supports the family and provides a strong safety net.
  7. A Cyprus of knowledge and employment. That addresses the educational, professional and social challenges of the future. For a country that creates opportunities for all its citizens and especially its young people.

The speech of Averof Nephytos at the event

Ladies and gentlemen,

Ladies and friends,

It is with emotion that I welcome you to our event today.

An event that aims to honor, with humility and moderation, the 46 years since the founding of our faction, the Democratic Alarm.

; 46 years that housed the dreams and hopes of our fellow citizens.

· 46 years of selfless national and political struggles of tens of thousands of people. People who gave their lives for our collective progress. Above all, we honor them today. You the elders, but also the competitors who are no longer with us. Thank you.

· 46 years that taught the political system unity. National reconciliation. Healing the wounds of division.

They asserted that none of us is less patriotic. They were convinced of respect for democracy. They showed that different opinions are wealth and strength to move forward.

; 46 years of encouraging our fellow human beings to continue, in difficult times, in crises, with dignity. And with your head up.

Who equipped them with tools, method and mental fortitude to take their destiny back into their own hands. As befits a free people.

Friends and friends,

Glaukos Cleridis, on July 4, 1976, did not just establish a political formation, one of the dozens that the country saw in its troubled history

With our country having just suffered the ravages of the coup and the brutality of the invasion, the visionary politician makes a different proposal.

He is creating a party with the aim of paving the way for the free, modern, democratic, united, European Cyprus that we deserve!

Despite the times that narrow the horizons, he looks far!

It thus turns a new page in the history of the place.

We know what our founder would say today.

He would say that the best way to honor our past is to talk about future.

The best way to honor the big and important things we have achieved is for what we do from now on to be even bigger.

Even more important.

There could not be a better occasion than today to honor our history.

Because today, friends, we present the 100 policy axes of the Democratic Alert for the Cyprus of the next day.

Ladies and friends,

The Democratic Alarm became big because it went against the grain. With patriotic realism and truth. Brave me. Daring. Often unpopular positions. But they showed the way to the future.

Like the integration of our country into the European Union. The greatest national achievement of our founder, but also the huge victory of our Cyprus. A goal, a vision that few believed.

Which gave Cyprus security and perspective. And he established it in its natural geopolitical and cultural space.

Like the effective treatment of the economic and health crisis by the successor of Glaukos Cleridis, Nikos Anastasiadis. Which took over in 2013 a bankrupt economy.

With the right policies, today, 9 years later, Cyprus is a different country.

Today we continue. To keep our country standing. To provide security and stability. Development and perspective.

We ensure Cyprus the right to look ahead.

Evolving our policies for the next day of our Cyprus.

Friends,

We are celebrating the completion of 46 years of our faction. To strengthen our will to keep it united and even stronger.

Connecting it with the expectations of the great majority of our people.

The majority that, beyond parties and various , expects to see our Cyprus again facing the adversities of the times.

To pass the minefield of the new global crisis that we have before us.

To this majority of our fellow citizens we dedicate ourselves our today's celebration.

Tomorrow we will dedicate the new five years of our government to it.

To her we turn.

Inviting her to join us, in a common front against populism and regression, which comes with the cloak of the so-called modern.

We are the faction of all Cypriots.

The faction of a society that wants to move forward, refusing to enter into new adventures. She refuses to risk her achievements. He refuses to go back to a past he doesn't even want to remember.

The faction of a society that abhors demagoguery. She trusts herself. It relies on its strengths.

The faction of the young and the middle class. Who understands the risks, the challenges, but also the opportunities of the time. And he knows with whom he can face them and from whom he must beware.

Who knows how to judge, compare and choose with sobriety, equanimity and realism the path of responsibility, anticipation and progress.< /p>

I am fully aware that many of our fellow citizens have been embittered by some of our mistakes.

They have been hurt and disappointed by some behavior. They are tired of confrontations.

I know, at the same time, that a large part of our society is possessed by anxiety about today. Insecurity for tomorrow, anxiety about their position, work and income.

I know, however, that misery does not suit our proud fellow citizens. Mediocrity is no match. Lightness and emptiness do not match. Cheating does not suit them.

Because the new, the different, the change, if they are not accompanied by actions, by experience, ability, efficiency, are just nice words and empty slogans.

For us, friends, the new, the evolution , is our political DNA.

The future is the oxygen of the Democratic Alarm.

And the Democratic Alarm is the guarantee that both our country and its citizens will move forward always and safely, ahead.

That is why we present today the foundations of our reform plan. For Cyprus the next day. For the Cyprus of creation and multiple possibilities.

100 policy axes in 8 pillars for the next day.

The basis and foundation of the thorough and detailed governance program that will follow the next fall.

It is the plan that stems from the values, philosophy and ideas of the Democratic Alarm. Our patriotic, center-right, liberal and democratic political philosophy.

The plan that is based on the significant work of our ten-year government

The plan that was sculpted through an unprecedented process: 10 months of mass and democratic dialogue. Not hidden, but open to society. With citizens and social groups, on the way to our conference.

And it was compiled by the worthy team of our executives, our Institutes, our technocrats, Policy Production Groups, but also expert technocrats, academics and ordinary citizens, thousands of people who came to support this effort.

The Plan of the Next Day fully sets the foundations for the Next Day of Cyprus:

First, for a free and united Cyprus. Which is not compatible with possession. For an extroverted and secure country, which seeks regional, European and international cooperation and takes advantage of its geostrategic and geopolitical position.

Second, for a resilient and sustainable Cyprus. Which also faces the new crisis. For a country attractive for investments, with a firmly established and competitive economy, through a dynamic and sustainable development model.

Third, for a modern and digital Cyprus. Where its structures meet the needs of the new era. For a country that facilitates the citizen every day and builds a new regional center of technology and innovation in the region.

Fourth, for a green Cyprus. To become an international model of green transition. For a country of smart cities, smart transport and smart energy, which takes advantage of the unique natural properties and wealth of our homeland for the good of its people and the planet.

Fifth, for a Cyprus of high quality of life. Which establishes modern, green, safe cities and develops life in the countryside. For a country that protects the environment and highlights its culture and sports.

Sixth, for a Cyprus of solidarity. Which ensures social cohesion and decent living for all. For a country with the best possible health services, which supports the family and provides a strong protection network.

Seventh, for a Cyprus of knowledge and employment. That addresses the educational, professional and social challenges of the future. For a country that creates opportunities for all its citizens and especially its young people.

And eighth, for a fair Cyprus. Which enforces transparency, accountability and the rule of law. For a country where every citizen feels included and enjoys equal rights and equal opportunities.

Our plan includes flagship policies, initiatives and reforms.

Our groundbreaking approach to the security of Cyprus. We are breaking taboos and asking for the involvement of European, Euro-Atlantic institutions and NATO. To enter into the equation of the effective security of our country, in a way that will ensure the survival of Cypriot Hellenism. I believe that from now on Cyprus should prioritize the issue of applying for NATO membership. As well as that hydrocarbons and security can unlock the Cyprus.

Included in the next day's plan is our determination to completely reorganize the Cypriot state. We dare and propose the Constitutional revision. With absolute respect for the balance imposed by the bi-community of the constitution. As well as the redesign and organization of the state from scratch. Today's Cyprus cannot function with the structures of 1960. Today, when we are determined to put the entire state on every citizen's mobile phone.

For the first time, such a comprehensive and multi-level family policy is presented in Cyprus. Which practically supports every child that is born. It ensures the creation of nurseries in workplaces, but also the expansion of the institution of full-day school in all public schools of pre-primary, primary and secondary education without exception. Which foresees the even more dynamic and modern housing policy that will offer the opportunity of housing, either at an affordable purchase price or with an affordable rent.

Our plan explains the adjustments that need to be made to GESY, keeping its philosophy and character intact. So that our health system can offer better quality and more timely services to every patient. And that no one abuses it, getting rich at the expense of the patients.

We are still determined to establish the Cyprus University Hospital as soon as possible. This distortion must end.

In the next day of our social state we bring our social intervention closer to the citizens, with the neighborhood social worker and the family support network. By digitizing, consolidating and simplifying, we ensure fast payment of benefits. No allowance payment should be delayed for more than one month from the request. We ensure the living of our disabled and those suffering from chronic diseases in special organized structures. And we are leading the way to reform our pension system and active ageing.

In our plan we present the way we will ensure the autonomy of our new generation. Which has the right to be financially independent, housing independent and family independent. But also the great investment in our human capital. So that our people, young and old, can prosper and create, having the supplies that the next day requires, not the day before.

Today we outline the great pending reform of our education system. As well as the framework of our policies that will further strengthen employment, through the creation of tens of thousands of jobs, which will come to be added to the 80,000 positions already created by the policies of our own government in previous years. Positions that simultaneously improve working conditions, but also pay, for any young person or employee who wants to be qualified and ready to meet the demands of new skills.

The next day we show the way to full gender equality. With equal participation in government, the path towards equal participation of both parents in raising children, but also the numerous and great facilities that will reconcile professional and family life. We are determined to give every woman the opportunity to participate in the production process if she wishes.

We put forward our principle position, people have equal rights and equal opportunities regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation. But also the need to address the immigration issue. A real problem that upsets Cypriot society. Because Cyprus must provide a safe haven to every real refugee and ensure decent living conditions. On the other hand, it is equally true that the country has far exceeded the limits of hosting informal economic migrants. Who today cover the overwhelming percentage of immigration, with unsustainable economic and social consequences. Our country cannot stand any more such flows. Any political refugee whose application is rejected will have to leave the country. At the same time, stop the incentive that allows each asylum seeker to work until their application is examined.

In the plan of the next day, the new development model of our country is fully developed. The coexistence of the old and new sectors of our economy, which, with the right policies, will ensure the resilience, sustainability, and stability of the country. We see the economy as a whole to which everyone contributes and should contribute. Our tourism, services, land development and shipping, along with higher education, industry, telecommunications and IT services, research and technology. The new perspectives of our service sector. Transit trade and health. But also the primary sector and our agricultural production.

Ladies and friends,

On these axes, in the coming months we will build our complete and detailed program.

Continuing the fermentation with society and the social partners, with whom we permanently talk, not only when there are elections.

For the policies that will achieve the goals of the Democratic Alert for Cyprus.

The alignment of the major decisions and major choices of this country. But also of the great visions that we all consistently share all these years.

At the same time, we will present coordinated individual measures and policies, costed and in every detail.

We have already made public our first programmatic positions. To empower and facilitate women to have equal opportunities in education and work. We submitted proposals for green growth. And for the digital transition. Yesterday I gave the media proposals for sustaining growth and relieving low incomes in the face of the tide of precision.

But also measures that restore the injustice in the refugee world.

Specifically:

We create incentives for the economy. Incentives for investment. To keep growth rates high and avoid recession.

Based on the state's fiscal capabilities, in 2023 we are proceeding with tax relief for the lowest scale of our fellow citizens, from 19,500 to 28,000 euros. As a result, they increase their disposable income.

Those who have an income below the tax threshold, and understandably struggle, part of their social security contributions will be paid by the state.

For refugees we need to take practical and implementable steps recognizing the burden they carry over the years.

Focusing on those who do not have a title deed, but also those who live in neighborhoods facing serious problems or in apartments that are in poor condition.

In particular, we propose the construction of new houses, which will be granted to these refugees, by land development entrepreneurs against the provision of state land or with the granting of an additional building factor.

In this way, there will be no financial burden for the state but on the contrary, at a rapid pace, we will offer decent housing, with property titles to all displaced persons who are entitled to them.

Friends and friends,

Democratic Alarm is the guarantor of social and economic stability. The standard bearer of development and progress.

Even through the clouds of the new crisis, we see the opportunities for growth. And we are planning a healthier tomorrow for our country.

We believe in a Cyprus that anticipates developments. He looks away. In front! Which goes even further.

Giving priority to the new generation, to the welfare state, to the development of the productive forces of the real economy.

For a free and united Cyprus.

< p>For a Cyprus country of international reference. Example of stability, Example of reliability, Example of European leadership.

That is why our faction is the faction of all Cypriots. The faction that guarantees their future.

The 100 policy axes today are part of the bridge that connects us to the future.

And the future will be ours again. And it will take us very strong in the next day of our Cyprus.

Happy birthday to all of us!

And even better days for our homeland!

Thank you
