The Anima Research Center in Alken, Limburg Province, plans to test 400 people with the Chinese coronavirus vaccine, according to Flemish newspapers, rtbf reports.
Clover Biopharmaceuticals is the first and so far the only pharmaceutical company from China to apply for a vaccine test in Belgium, according to the Federal Office for Drugs and Health Products.
However, so far there are no plans to give a Chinese vaccine to the general population, as Europe has not yet approved it.
The company is awaiting a positive opinion from the Ethics Committee of the Federal Office for Drugs and Health Products and final approval, hoping to begin clinical trials in the second half of March.
The Anima Research Center is one of the most accredited testing institutes in China.
