2021 was better than the previous year in 2020 but inferior to 2019, said the President of the Association of Large Developments and Vice President of CCCI Andreas Dimitriadis, reviewing the economic data in the fields of tourism, construction and economic in general activity.
In his statements, Mr. Dimitriadis in 2021 stated that there was an improvement of about 3% of the gross product compared to 2020.
Hoping, he continued, that “we will not be substantially and radically affected by the pandemic, we expect based on the forecasts of the Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund and the European Union, that in 2022 we will have a growth rate of around 4% to 5% of our gross national income, which is considered to be one of the highest in the EU ”.
He added that all these predictions depend on how the pandemic will develop and how it can be dealt with effectively. He also assessed that the prospects for 2022 seem to be very good in all areas of economic activity, including tourism, exports, construction and industry, where dynamics are expected.
Asked about this, Mr. Dimitriadis said that everyone is closely following the evolution of the pandemic and especially the statements of experts on this issue. Certainly he said, it is something that is difficult to predict how it will develop, but expressing hope and optimism that developments will be positive. Unfortunately, however, he noted, no one can make reliable predictions about how the pandemic will develop.
