This July marks the 50th anniversary of the first Pride Parade in Britain in 1972.

In April, Pride in London, the team that was founded in 2012 and has since organized the events that accompany the Pride parade, confirmed that it will re-follow the historic route of 1972 for this year 2022. The parade will start in Hyde Park, where the first picnic took place after the march in 1972.

It was also the site where miners' working groups showed their solidarity with the LOATKI + community in 1985.

The Pride in London team has come under fire in recent years. In 2021, five of the most prominent members of the group retired following allegations of racism and intimidation.
