The temporary lifting of the strike measures, which started last Friday at noon, was decided by the employees of the company Nicosia Public Transport, with the result that the public transport in Nicosia will resume from noon yesterday. The strike was preceded by a strike on Larnaca buses on Tuesday, a day when Cyprus Public Transport staff in Nicosia decided to continue the protests that culminated the day before yesterday with a protest march to the Ministries of Transport and Labor.
Yesterday morning, however, the assembly of strikers in the company Nicosia Public Transport that took place in PEO decided to lift the strike measures, after the relevant guidance of the representatives of the unions SEGDAMELIN-PEO and OMEPEGE-SEK by a relevant appeal of the Minister of Labor, in order to start substantial negotiations, as was done in the case of Larnaca.

According to yesterday's announcement of the two unions, the decision taken opens the dialogue between the Minister of Labor and the Minister of Transport, to resolve the problems faced by employees. The unions state that a meeting has already been scheduled in this direction, which according to information from “F” will take place on Saturday morning at the SEK building and not next Monday, as originally announced. The union announcement also states that the fired employees of the company “are also returning to their jobs, after the dismissal letters have been withdrawn”. We remind you that the sending of dismissal letters by Cyprus Public Transport to employees of the two provinces was also the reason for the strike that started last week, as there was an ongoing dialogue on the issue and the company's intention for redundancies was discussed at the Ministry of Labor./p>
In their joint announcement yesterday, the unions OMEPEGE-SEK and SEGDAMELIN-PEO expressed in the meantime their readiness to negotiate in good faith the solution of all problems, in order to avoid similar unwanted differences in the future. They warn that “otherwise the employees will have no choice but to make a dynamic claim”. They also say that the main problems in the company concern the hours, the implementation of existing laws, mainly in matters of safety and health and infrastructure issues, which are expected to be discussed in their entirety next Saturday. The course of the negotiations will be re-examined by the employees at their new general assembly, which will take place next Thursday, except for the unexpected. It is noted that the unions and the workers apologized yesterday for the suffering of the passengers during the days of the strike, for which, as they claimed, they are not responsible.
