The Board of Directors and the Directorate of the EAC, with their announcement, call on the Trade Unions to review and revise their decisions in relation to the strike measures they have announced for the coming Thursday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 23, 2022, in order to avoid any inconvenience of consumers and the public in general.

In an international environment of energy uncertainty and social anxiety, it states, responsibility, prudence and empathy are imperative from all stakeholders.

“When our society is tested, with the price of electricity to be formed outside the control of the EAC, further tensions and pressures should not be caused to the citizens”, it is added.

It is pointed out that the declaration of strike measures by the Trade Union Organizations of the EAC constitutes a social challenge and does not agree with the Administration and Management of the Organization.  These measures, it is noted, inconvenience society and affect the EAC.

It is noted that the Board of Directors and the Management serve a purpose, to help the EAC to face the great challenges ahead and to respond to the its mission, as the stable pillar of energy that supports the progress of our country.

The Board of Directors and the Directorate of EAC, in the context of the open dialogue and consultation they maintain with all interested parties, have recently had a number of meetings with the Trade Unions to discuss the issues that concern the Organization.

“The last meeting took place on Friday, November 11, 2022, before the announcement of the measures. But always in a framework of mutual respect and distinct roles that serve the integrity of the institutional operation of the EAC and place above all the fulfillment of the Organization's mission to the place and the citizens”, concludes the announcement.
