Two men from the Capitol Police Department (USCP) were made available for their behavior when Donald Trump's supporters invaded on Wednesday, said Ted Ryan, a Democrat representing Ohio.
One policeman took a selfie with the rioters. The latter wore a MAGA hat (“Make America Great Again”, “let's give America back its glory”, the slogan of Trump's campaign) and began to give instructions to the invaders, Mr. Ryan explained to reporters.
The acting head of the USCP considered their actions a sufficient reason to be immediately available, said the Democratic politician, a member of the subcommittee of the House of Representatives that oversees the federal police force.
According to Ted Ryan, another 10 to 15 police officers are facing internal investigations.
There has been no confirmation so far from the USCP.
The former head of the USCP, Steven Sand, resigned after receiving strong criticism for the way his men handled the invasion.
