For a year and a half now, the Ministry of Defense has been waiting for the Legal Service of the Republic to examine the findings of the investigation into the beating of national guards in a camp of the Stavrovouni Command during the period March-April 2020, which of publicity the “Dialogue”.
It is recalled that after the completion of the interrogation that had been ordered, disciplinary penalties had been imposed, according to the Ministry of Defense, without however being announced to whom for what reasons and what these penalties provided. The relevant file, with the investigations and the facts of the case, was then forwarded to the Attorney General's Office based on the provisions of the Military Penal Code, for further handling of the matter as the finding shows a possible commission of criminal offenses. Based on the procedure, the Military Prosecutor proceeds to investigate the interrogation file and then the Attorney General will proceed with the implementation of the law, if and when criminal offenses occur. Nevertheless, even today, more than a year after the Ministry of Defense awaits the final decision of the Legal Service on the matter.
