The National Betting Authority announces with great satisfaction its certification with the international standards ISO/IEC 27001: 2013 – Information Security Management and Information 37001: 2016 – Anti-Bribery Management System.
The certification of EAS was completed after the successful inspection carried out by the Cyprus Certification Company (KEP), as the official certification body in Cyprus and as a full member of the International Network of IQNet Certification Bodies (International Quality Network).
Information security is today one of the key objects of interest and concern of organizations, as information and data are increasing in volume, complexity and criticality. Easy access is expanded, making data more vulnerable and vulnerable. The National Betting Authority, due to its role and responsibilities as a regulatory and supervisory authority of the betting activity in the Republic of Cyprus, is responsible for the collection, processing and storage of sensitive personal and professional information and data. Given the role and understanding of the increased risk and variety of risks that the organization may face from time to time, the Authority is committed to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Information Security Management System, based on the guidelines and requirements of the international ISO/IEC 27001. The successful certification of the Authority with the international standard ISO/IEC 27001 aims at ensuring the integrity, availability and confidentiality of the information it manages in the execution of its responsibilities.
In addition, the Authority's certification with ISO 37001: 2016 on the management of the fight against bribery demonstrates the Authority's commitment to tackling corruption and bribery more decisively and reinforces its goal of cultivating a culture of integrity and transparency. Therefore, the agency has implemented a holistic system to prevent and combat corruption and corruption, which is based on the requirements of this standard, & nbsp; relevant national legislation & nbsp; and best & nbsp; practices. The system, among other things, establishes & nbsp; procedures and controls, & nbsp; defines roles within the organization, & nbsp; ensures the training of both staff and licensed & nbsp; and & nbsp; stakeholders; provides for the maintenance and control of relevant registers. Furthermore, it assures stakeholders that the Authority and/or its staff will never & nbsp; seek & nbsp; or & nbsp; accept, directly or indirectly, benefits of any kind or promise, to & nbsp; cause & nbsp; or & nbsp; rewards & nbsp in the form of acts or omissions arising out of or in conflict with one's duties.
The President of EAS, Mrs. Ioanna Fiakkou, stressed that, “the certifications with the two international standards are part of the implementation of the strategic plan of the Authority to enhance transparency, ensure accountability, independence in decision making, reduce business risk, in sustainability of the organization and most importantly in strengthening the confidence of the parties involved. Good administration and development of both the organization and the staff is non-negotiable. For this reason we have a duty to shield the body in the best possible way. Through this path, we are convinced as an Administration that we will achieve the vision and strategic aspirations of the Authority “.

It is pointed out that the action plan includes the certification of organizations in both the public and wider public sector, as well as the private sector. It is worth noting that the Authority is the first public and wider public sector organization to be certified to the ISO37001 standard.
