A 16-year-old in Paphos is facing the offenses of illegal transportation of explosives on the playing field with his face covered with a mask and transportation of an offensive instrument.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou, on April 10 between the hours of 18:00 and 20:00, a soccer match for the Cyprus Cup between Paphos Fc and Apollon Limassol was held at the Stelios Kyriakidis stadium.

Around 20:05, after the end of the match, Mr. Nikolaou, a friend of the Paphos team, was seen with his face covered and holding a lighted torch in the Paphos stand, told KYPE.

After the torch was extinguished, all his movements were monitored and then he was allegedly noticed to reveal his face as a result of which he became recognizable.

Members of the ADE Paphos were at the exit and at some point the specific person was seen to leave the field. According to the Police, when a member of the Police approached him, this person ran away, was chased and stopped.

He was then taken to the Police and as it turned out, he is a minor, aged 16, a student.

The 16-year-old was accused in writing of the offenses of the illegal transport of explosives, the prohibition of the transport of an offensive instrument on the field of play with his face covered with a mask with the intention of committing a felony.

The above offenses concern the prevention of violence in playing fields.

Finally, Mr. Nikolaou said that the case will be brought before the Attorney General to decide whether the minor will be prosecuted or not and to receive instructions.
