It was the first date, but also the first step for a scheduled wedding as everything shows. Nikos Christodoulidis had a full program of contacts yesterday, however the meeting that gathered interest was the one at DIKO.
The candidate for the presidential elections, for the first time officially crossed the threshold of the party and said it to the members of the DIKO Secretariat. A meeting during which he gave an outline of his positions and received questions on all issues. Nikos Christodoulidis and the Secretariat of DIKO recorded convergences and common concerns in a first meeting that essentially laid the foundations for the future. During the discussion, as we are informed, the question was raised about the role of DIKO in the pre-election in case of support of his candidacy. What has been said, according to reports, is that this is an independent candidacy and that is the character he must maintain.

In his statements, Nikolas Papadopoulos stated that they had the opportunity to exchange views on many issues that concern the people and society today, such as of course the management of the economy to deal with accuracy, the management of immigration, the upgrading of the National Guard and of course the management of the Cyprus problem. & nbsp;
He noted that the candidacy of Nikos Christodoulidis is indeed a candidacy that is being discussed within the party. & nbsp; “I will not take a position, you know, what is the trend within the Democratic Party. “This is what the Central Committee will do when it is called upon to make its own decisions,” he said, adding that everyone's political background is, of course, well known. “We have repeatedly said that what we are interested in is change and we believe that change can come through the program positions in case we support an independent candidate,” he said.
Nikos Christodoulidis stated that he will not prejudge the decisions of DIKO. “What I want to say from my point of view is that in our team, in our staff there are collaborators from all political areas and yes, we may have different starting points but what unites us, what is required, is the common vision for the future of our country “, he concluded.
The DIKO Secretariat then set the time frame for the procedures, according to which the DIKO Executive Office will meet on June 22 and then on June 26 the Central Committee to make its final decisions.

The beginning of his contacts with the parties was yesterday with the Ecologists Movement, in which Nikos Christodoulidis presented his positions and listened to the concerns and reflections that focused on issues related to the green policy.
“We had the opportunity to examine and discuss aspects of Mr. Christodoulidis' program in view of the electoral process for the presidential election,” he said.
For his part, Nikos Christodoulidis described it as very important the meeting they had. “We will be in touch with the Ecologists Movement and I am ready to answer a specific questionnaire that has been communicated to the other candidates,” he said.
Christodoulidis team first appearance
Remarkable yesterday was the first actually official appearance of part of the Christodoulidis group, which accompanied him in yesterday's party contacts. This group consisted of: Marina Hatzimanoli, Limassol City Councilor who has the role of coordinator. Tzozi Christodoulou who was a consultant at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for gender issues and Charalambos Konstantinou who is the coordinator of the candidate's program.
