The UK's commitment to play a constructive role in the resumption of talks on a solution to the Cyprus problem was reaffirmed by British Foreign Secretary Dominique Raab in a Twitter post following his morning communication with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulidis.
Mr Raab added that the British Government fully supported UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' efforts to make progress in the negotiations.
“Today I spoke with the Cypriot Foreign Minister to welcome a new year and an era for UK-Cyprus ties,” Raab concluded.
In the relevant announcement, the Cypriot Foreign Ministry states that the two Ministers exchanged views on the next steps in the ongoing efforts of the UN Secretary General with the aim of resuming the talks.
Issues related to UNFICYP, bilateral cooperation after the completion of Brexit and other bilateral issues were also discussed.
