The circular of the Minister of Finance is expected to cause upheavals regarding the “title” of the Assistant Attorney General, the Auditor General and the General Accountant, since depending on how the grade is used, it refers to their upgrading or demotion.
Assistant Attorney General of the Republic, instead of Assistant Attorney General of the Republic. Assistant Auditor General of the Republic, instead of Assistant Auditor General of the Republic. Assistant General Accountant of the Republic, instead of Assistant General Accountant of the Republic.
As “F” is informed, the issue concerned those affected by the time when Kriton Tornaritis was Attorney General and from time to time there were conflicts, as others considered that the correct title is (for example) “Assistant Attorney General and others” Assistant Attorney General ».
It is recalled that the issue reached the halls of the Supreme Court, when the dismissal of the former Assistant Attorney General Rickos Erotokritos was requested. Mr. Erotokritou had largely considered that he was offended by the report “Assistant Attorney General” instead of “Assistant Attorney General”. The Court did not take a position on this point, although in the context of the decision there was a reference (in various points) to the Assistant Attorney General.
It is also worth noting that, on 17.12.2015, during the debate in Plenary of the House of Representatives of the state budget for 2016, the specific issue was raised by AKEL and DIKO. The two parties tabled an amendment to the relevant bill so that any reference to “Assistant Auditor General”, where it is found, be replaced by a reference to “Assistant Auditor General”. & Nbsp;
Then, the president of DISY Averoff intervened Neophytou, referring to article 115 of the Constitution which referred to an “assistant Auditor General”, pointing out to a large extent that the AKEL and DIKO amendment essentially violates the Constitution. After the intervention of Averof Neophytos, the then general secretary of AKEL stated: “We withdraw our amendment”. DIKO did the same and the case was closed there, something that is overturned by the circular of the Minister of Finance, which was issued after the opinion of the Attorney General. & Nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp;
