In relation to the denial of the Minister of Labor, Yiannis Panagiotou, regarding today's publication by the Cyprus News Agency which concerned Mr. Panayiotou's reports to Parliament on the strike in the concrete sector, CNA sends the Minister's reports to the Finance Committee as they are, from a transcript of the CNA journalist who was in the room during the meeting.

Addressing the DISY MPs, he said “because I believe that the responsibility is anyway collective, if you too have the ability to influence someone and guide them so that they operate more consensually, each of us in our own way I believe that we can help, so that this confrontation is normalized, especially in the current situation where in our region geopolitically there is fluidity, there are facts that can develop negatively at any time, it is important that we manage to ensure normality and stability internally for anything that we can agree on among ourselves. I believe that in this too, if we all put our hand in, the normalization of the situation will become possible”. (Record 15, 11:52-12:55)

Addressing AKEL MPs, he said, “as I said before, you also have union friends, who you can talk to to ask them to be more constructive and more positive, so that they accept to meet with the other side to discuss, so that they can evaluate the possibility of retreating from their initial positions, so that a compromise agreement can be found. I believe that you will contribute positively and it will be appreciated.” (Record 16, 12:45 – 13:35)

It is recalled that the Minister of Labor stated that with regard to the CNA publication under the title “Appeal to the Minister of Labor. of Labor to MPs to mediate for a strike in the concrete industry”, emphasizes that this specific report does not correspond to reality, since mediation for the resolution of labor disputes is the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, according to the Industrial Relations Code.
