Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus adopts new non-detachable plastic caps on all its product packaging.
The company has started to market packaging with a non-removable plastic lid, a practice that will gradually continue across the range of its portfolio. The change started with the portfolio of Lanitis juices that have been on the market since last month, while in 2023 the implementation will continue in all the packaging of the company's products.
With this move, Coca- Cola HBC Cyprus implements the European Directive and the relevant legislation much earlier than the 2024 forecast, contributing so that 2.5 million non-removable caps can be used and not end up in the environment.
The new non-removable lid makes it easy to collect and recycle the entire package, helping to reduce waste. The new caps are practical and easy to use, while their use contributes to the potential recycling of more than 8 tons of plastic.
A small change for us, a big one for the environment < /em>
All the packaging of the products produced by Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus is 100% recyclable. Plastic caps – although recyclable – are often separated from the rest of the packaging during disposal, so they never end up in the recycling bin. This change aims to ensure that more plastic caps are recycled and do not end up as waste.
This action is part of the overall sustainable development strategy of Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus. With a vision of “A World Without Waste” the company invests and implements a series of targeted actions, such as the recent change to aluminum multipacks which, thanks to the innovative KeelClip™ packaging, eliminates the plastic film and thus drastically reduces the use of plastic. In the same context, the company invests in the promotion of the circular economy, cooperation with agencies and the education of citizens in the principles of the circular economy, with the aim of increasing the overall collection and recycling rates. At the same time, the company has committed to collecting and recycling every packaging it has on the market by 2030, as well as to a neutral carbon footprint by 2040, with the aim of tackling climate change and a more sustainable future for everyone.
