Code of Ethics for Members of Parliament: Under the microscope, gifts, businesses and interests

After 60 years of operation, the Parliament acquired a code of ethics, conduct and transparency, which will govern the office of MPs and the exercise of their duties. The code was voted by the plenary of the Parliament yesterday Thursday and is expected to be implemented at the end of the month, with its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic. At the meeting of the party leaders that will take place next week, it will be decided whether the plenary session of the Parliament will proceed to the election of the Ethics Committee, given that the term of the current Parliament expires in less than two months.

The prevailing view is that the Ethics Committee should be appointed with the new Parliament. It will consist of seven deputies and will be elected immediately after the election of the Speaker of the Parliament together with the Election Committee, which forms the parliamentary committees and appoints deputies as members of these committees.
