Commission announces new round of scholarships for Turkish Cypriot students and professionals

The Commission announced the launch of the European Union scholarship program for the Turkish Cypriot community for the academic year 2022 – 2023, which will provide scholarships to approximately 140 Turkish Cypriot students, graduates and professionals.

The scholarship program is funded under the Cyprus Reunification Assistance Program, with which the European Union has been providing financial assistance to the Turkish Cypriot community since 2007, with the aim of promoting EU values and a favorable environment for its further development. trust, dialogue and cooperation between the two communities as well as to assist the integration of the Turkish Cypriot community into the wider EU.

Since 2007, more than 1,800 people in the Turkish Cypriot community have received scholarships.

This year, the program is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as short-term programs, including internships and language courses in EU Member States.

As noted in the Communication, the priority areas are the same as last year and include issues related to COVID-19. Those interested are encouraged to apply for the specific areas, for which they may receive additional points during the evaluation and more likely to receive the scholarship.
