An event for the 20th anniversary of the Office of the Commissioner for the Regulation of Electronic Communications and Posts and the presentation of the anniversary stamp issued by the Cyprus Post was held today in the Multipurpose Hall of the Ministry of Finance.
The event was attended by the President of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Annita Dimitriou, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Yannis Karousos, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Mr. Kyriakos Kokkinos and the President of the Parliamentary Committee for Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Marinos Mousiouttas.
In the actions and the continuous cooperation with the Office of the Commissioner through a constructive dialogue for the success of his mission was mentioned by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Yiannis Karousos during a press conference organized by the Office of the Commissioner for the Regulation of Electronic Communications for the release of a commemorative stamp for the 20 years of the Commissioner's Office.
In his greeting, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works referred to the common goal of both the Ministry and the Commissioner to safeguard the interests of consumers in relation to prices and market availability as well as to promote the development of the economy, through the development of competition. Adding, Mr. Karousos referred to the need to control the quality of the services offered and to guarantee the provision of a minimum set of Universal Service services, both in the market of Electronic Communications and in the market of Postal Services.
Finally, Mr. Karousos emphasized that “The Ministry maintains close cooperation with the Commissioner's Office and through the stamp highlights its valuable work and contribution to society.” In this direction, the Minister added, the issue and circulation by the Cyprus Post Office of the anniversary commemorative stamp, on the occasion of the 20 years of operation of the Office of the Communications Commissioner, is intended. Wishing a happy and productive birthday to the Commissioner's office, Mr. Karousos assured that the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and his Services will be at the Commissioner's side to support the Project he is implementing.
