The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CCP) announces the launch of the electronic platform of the Register of Real Beneficiaries of Explicit Trusts and Similar Legal Arrangements “CyTBOR”, which from 17/05/2022 will be accessible to the trustees from 17 and 06/2022 to all parties involved.
The need to create the Register stems from the Law on Preventing and Combating Money Laundering Act 2007, which is fully in line with the 4th and 5th & nbsp; European Directive on combating money laundering & nbsp; ;
The purpose of “CyTBOR” is to easily and promptly search for up-to-date information and facts about the real beneficiaries of explicit trusts and similar legal arrangements. & nbsp; any trust. For this reason, it is now possible to directly search and identify the trustees, trustees, protectors, if any, beneficiaries and any other natural person exercising final control over the trust through direct or indirect ownership or by other means.
The President of EKK Dr. Giorgos Theocharidis, stated in this regard “This is a project which is very important, both for the Hellenic Capital Market Commission and for our country that will help the full transparency and compliance of all supervised entities, which will ensure credibility. of the market “.
According to Dr. Theocharidis, in addition to the ECC, all supervisory authorities, the Customs Department, the Tax Department, MOKAS and the Police will have unhindered access to the Register within their responsibilities.
It is also now possible to provide timely information on the true beneficiaries of explicit trusts and similar legal arrangements & nbsp; to the respective competent Authorities of other Member States of the European Union. In addition, the Registry will have access to the Registry as part of its due diligence and customer identification measures.
