Rosatom plans to start concreting unit 4 of the Akuyu nuclear power plant under construction in Turkey in 2022.
The announcement was made Wednesday by Anton Dedushenko, Deputy CEO of Rusatom Energy International (REI, a company owned by Rosatom), speaking at the “Rosatom Projects in the Middle East and North Africa” forum, held as part of the EXPO 2020 exhibition at Dubai.
“As for Unit 4, we expect concreting to begin in 2022,” said Dedushenko, noting that permission to build the unit has already been issued.
The injection of the first concrete for Unit 1 of the Akougiou nuclear power plant took place on April 3, 2018, for Unit 2 at the end of June 2020, while the construction of Unit 3 began on March 10, 2021.
Today, the construction site of the Akuyu nuclear power plant is one of the largest in the world in the field of nuclear power plant construction. More than 13,000 people work daily, and more than 1,000 construction machinery and vehicles are in use, including more than 70 cranes.
