The continuation, expansion and consolidation of the work accomplished during the last sixteen years by the blessed Archbishop Chrysostomos II stated that he wishes Paphos Metropolitan George.
Paphos Metropolitan George speaking at an event in Palaia Elektriki, on Saturday night, said that it is many among his co-candidates who do not consider that the work of the late Archbishop should continue and that he had to face great opposition in the establishment of the Theological School. He added that the character and tradition of the Cypriot Church must be preserved.
In recent years, as he said, we have been witnessing a daily tour of relics and icons throughout Cyprus. It is not, he said, “this religiosity of our people”.
He also referred to traditional monasticism in Stavrovouni, Trooditissa, Chrysorogiatissa and spoke of cases in which children are secretly taken from their parents, #8220; put in a monastery from which they are not allowed to leave even if any of their relatives died”.
