The leadership of the General Confederation (GC) POVEK had a meeting with the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Giorgos Papanastasiou, yesterday, where they presented him with a memorandum with the Organization's positions and recommendations on a wide range of issues and problems that concern Small and Medium Enterprises, while there was a convergence in several of the proposals and positions presented by the General Assembly of POVEK.

In the memorandum, the General Assembly of POVEK emphasizes that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) expect support and the creation of conditions for healthy competition and development from the new Minister, pointing out that the Cypriot economy continues to face serious problems from the wounds left by the financial crisis of 2013, the consequences of the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, price increases in raw materials, energy, rising inflation and interest rates.

Proposes the creation of an SME Agency, a one-stop service portal for SMEs, the review of policy licensing of large developments, access to financing and European and national SME support programs and the abolition of the flat and unequal fee of €350= for companies.
