“Important” actions will be carried out in the near future, they say in a joint announcement
On Monday, the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCC) announced the start of their collaboration, to undertake actions aimed at promoting gender equality in the workplace and entrepreneurship.
According to a joint announcement, the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality and the KEBE, report that through their collaboration “important” actions will be carried out in the immediate future, such as the creation Working Group for Gender Equality with representatives from the Office of the Commissioner and business members of KEBE, with the aim of promoting gender equality in the workplace.
They also refer to a codification of “the challenges and obstacles faced by women with regard to their participation in the Boards of Directors of Organizations and businesses and access to leadership positions”. On the basis of the analysis that will be carried out, practical actions will be designed with the aim of removing these obstacles, it is added.
In addition, the announcement refers to cooperation with companies for equal pay, while cooperation with 10 companies, members of KEBE, employing 50-150 workers is foreseen. The aim, it is noted, is to create annual action plans for the promotion of equality in companies and investigate the possibility of a pay gap, horizontal and vertical, with the aim of further reducing it.
In the most above framework, the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality and the KEBE will proceed to formalize this important cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding, the announcement concludes.
