In a short and simple ceremony, which took place on Monday 1/3/2021 at the Customs House, a Cooperation Protocol was signed between the Customs Department and other government authorities to deal with emergencies related to the safety of air cargo .
Specifically, on 15 March 2021, the new Import Control Information System (ICS2) will be implemented in all member states of the European Union, which will concern the receipt of information on cargo to be transported to the EU via courier companies and before being loaded into third countries, so that, following data analysis and in cooperation with all national competent services, imminent threats to aviation security can be chain.
The purpose of the protocol is also to jointly deal with emergencies that may arise from the possible loading of dangerous objects on an airplane destined to arrive in the Republic of Cyprus.
The protocol was signed on behalf of the Customs Department by the Director Mrs. Kyriaki Myrianthopoulou and on behalf of the other authorities the heads or administrative heads of each service.
