Most people know cough, fever and loss of smell and taste as symptoms of coronavirus.
But experts now believe that “cut” eyes may be a first sign of the virus, urging citizens to be vigilant.
The study was published in the BMJ Open Ophthalmology Journal and in addition to the “cut” eyes recognized as a possible symptom and photosensitivity.
The study was conducted by scientists at Anglia Ruskin University using a sample of 83 patients with coronavirus.
Among the symptoms recorded by the experts, 18% of the patients complained of photophobia, 17% reported “cut” eyes and 16% suffered from fatigue in vision.
In fact, eight out of ten who referred to eye symptoms had other symptoms within two weeks.
Previous research has reported conjunctivitis as a coronavirus, with the American Academy of Ophthalmology reporting that one in three coronavirus patients has a similar condition.
