At today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Hadjipandela, presented the suggestions of the members of the Scientific Advisory Committee discussed during yesterday's meeting, where the data recorded by the Tracking Team were analyzed and evaluated by the Nurses but also the rates of vaccination coverage of the population.

According to the data of the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health from 22 to 28 January 2022, 15,494 positive cases were recorded within the community and the increase in daily cases is recorded in all age groups, except the age group 50-69 years. The Ministry of Health once again appeals to the citizens for demonstration of individual responsibility, adhering faithfully and reverently to the health protocols. The Ministry of Health is constantly on the alert and evaluates all scientific and / or epidemiological data together with the Scientific Advisory Committee.

The Council of Ministers in its session today decided:

(a) from 4 February 2022, the lifting of the ban on children without a history of vaccination aged 12-17 entering restaurants, cafes and theaters .

  • Admission to these areas will be permitted upon presentation of a 72-hour negative PCR or Rapid Test , provided they are accompanied by a parent / guardian who has completed their immunization program.

(b) from 4 February 2022, the reduction of the time period from 5 months and two weeks to 5 months for the administration of the booster / 3rd dose of vaccine.

(c) the introduction of the “test to stay” measure in the National Guard.

  • The date of implementation of the measure will be announced after consultation with the Ministry of Defense.

(d) from 4 February 2022, workers in nursing homes and enclosed structures holding a valid vaccination or disease certificate must submit a 72-hour PCR or Rapid test and workers who have no vaccination history must submit an examination PCR or Rapid test power 24 hours.
