    Express deep concern about the 'current impasse'

    Letter to General UN Secretary António Guterres expressing deep concern about the “current impasse”in Cyprus, proposing concrete steps forward in parallel, sent the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center (CPDC) and the “Peace Decision”. According to a statement, with the letter the two organizations draw attention to the dangers and threats of a prolonged status quo and note the need for transparency and inclusiveness in ongoing efforts but also the urgency of a solution.

    In their letter, the two organizations state, among other things, to the UN Secretary General that it is imperative that the international community, under his leadership, take urgent, decisive and transparent steps to address the challenges in the Cyprus issue and work tirelessly for a comprehensive and permanent solution. They add that as stated in their joint declaration, the common ground is already there, and was reached as a compromise between the two sides as a result of decades of negotiations, and that “what is needed now is to walk the last mile with certainty and determination”.
