A meeting is being held at the Presidential Palace on Monday, during which it is expected to clarify the issue of the disposal of the unallocated quantities of halloumi outside the PDO.
The & nbsp; meeting, which will take place at 10:30 am under the President & nbsp; of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis & the & nbsp; Cheesemakers & nbsp; Association, & nbsp; will be attended by & nbsp; the Ministers of Agriculture and Energy .
The meeting will discuss the opinion of the Legal Service, which reaffirms that the product called “halloumi” is the one that meets the requirements of the European regulation, which established halloumi as a product of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
The aim of the Government is to control the production of the product in a unified and integrated way, so that it meets the specifications of the PDO.
The opinion of the Legal Clarifies that the product called halloumi is the one that meets the requirements of the European regulation, which registered the well-known Cypriot food as a product of protected designation of origin (PDO), with said earlier this week & nbsp; the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Costas Kadis, noting that products that do not meet these specifications can not be called halloumi.
