The Ministry of Shipping has laid a solid foundation and has made significant progress in implementing a comprehensive “National Shipping Strategy”, in cooperation with the shipping industry, says the Cyprus Maritime Chamber (KNE), welcoming the completion of three years from the start of work. A statement from KNE also referred to the implementation of new support measures, actions and flexible mechanisms by the State Department “so that Cyprus remains a sustainable shipping center, upgrading the image of Cyprus as a modern and quality shipping center”.
The priority given by the Government, as the first State Ministry in Cyprus, confirmed once again that the Cypriot shipping is an extremely important capital for Cyprus, with a significant contribution to the country's GDP, which reaches 7%, is added.
“It is expected from the shipping administration but also the state, more support in the shipping sector and targeted actions, especially now that it is called to face the economic impact of the pandemic, in order to use its many potentials, which will have a significant benefit to “Cypriot economy”, says the KNE.
The Maritime Chamber finally expresses its intention for even closer cooperation with the Ministry of Shipping, with the aim, as it says, of the sustainability and further progress of shipping.
