At the same time, compared to March 2019, before the start of the pandemic, the company carried 19% more passengers (March 2019: 21,676).

“We continue to improve our performance, both compared to our results in the same month last year and to 2019, before COVID. Such figures fill us with confidence to continue to improve our performance, especially with increasing occupancy rates “, said Paul Sies, CEO of Cyprus Airways.

“We've just started running our summer flight schedule. At its peak, we'll be flying to 18 destinations with over 60 return flights a week, offering over half a million seats for sale this in the summer. Our summer flights are consistently sold out and we look forward to a busy summer serving our customers,” commented Captain Andreas Georgiou, the Airline's Chief Operating Officer.

“A few days ago, we started operating routes to our new destinations Dubai and Cairo, two important destinations for us as they fit perfectly with our strategic plans to improve the international connectivity of Cyprus. Next month we will continue to expand our connectivity, serving the European hubs of Milan, Zurich, Prague and Basel with multiple weekly services. We are proud to be the island's flag carrier and promoter of the island and of its growing economy,” added Mr. Sies.

Cyprus Airways, the national carrier of Cyprus, resumed operations in 2016. The company has a fleet of Airbus aircraft A319 and two Airbus A320s, which currently operate on a network of seven scheduled destinations to Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Beirut, Tel Aviv, Yerevan and Rhodes.
