The Ministry of Health announces that today, July 23, 2021:
- No deaths of patients with the ultimate cause of death, COVID-19, have been reported to date, leaving a total of 398 deaths.
- 254 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 63 are in serious condition. 88.2% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- A total of 76,273 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 895 (positivity rate: 1.17%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), bringing the total number of cases to 96,202 .
The current results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19 disease:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were reported. Therefore, the total number of final causes of COVID-19 disease remains 398, of which:
- 264 men (66%), and
- 134 women (34%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 77.2 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 254 patients with COVID-19 are treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 63 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 63 patients who are in serious condition, 29 are intubated in the Intensive Care Unit and 34 in the Intensive Care Unit.

C. Positive cases COVID -19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 76,273 diagnoses made today, 9,001 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 67,272 by the antigen rapid test, 895 cases of COVID-19 were identified, which resulted as follows:
- 45 cases from 722 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 2 cases of 3,417 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 192 cases from 4,467 samples taken through private initiative.
- 15 cases from 302 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 3 cases from 93 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
- 85 cases from 2,930 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 553 cases from 64,342 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method.
