An extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Cyprus Football Federation has been called for today in which the exclusive topic of discussion will be violence in the stadiums.
The meeting is expected to be attended by the Minister of Justice and Public Order who, before the start of the debate, will present the views and concerns of the Government.
According to the statements of Government Spokesman Constantinos Letympiotis, “after we were informed about the decisions of the Executive Committee , the Minister of Justice and Public Order in coordination with the President of the Republic will further consider possible specific measures that can be taken”.
Besides, last night the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis said that he is waiting for the decisions of the Executive Committee of the KOP, noting that he does not rule out anything in relation to the decisions that he will take.
As the KYPE reports, respondents by journalists if he intends to close the stadiums completely after the serious incidents in Limassol, President Christodoulidis said that he had today again communicated with the President of KOP and they agreed that tomorrow, Friday, the Minister of Justice will attend the federation's session, in the presence of associations, to listen to its decisions.
“Depending on the decisions that will be made, I do not rule out anything, neither for fan associations, nor for the participation of fans in the stadiums, decisions that may not be liked, but I repeat that the priority is the safety of the world”, he noted in this regard, adding that he wants to hear the decisions of the KOP and the unions, as the unions are protagonists in this effort, but also possible decisions regarding the fan associations, with which the unions are related, repeating that it does not exclude anything.
