The earthquake expert also mentioned the Aegean

A new warning about a strong earthquake that will affect Cyprus came to light from Japan special this time.

The Japanese earthquake expert Yoshinori Moriwaki stated that the East Anatolia fault extends to Cyprus and according to him there may be a 7 Richter earthquake.

It is recalled that after reports of a large earthquake in Istanbul and Izmir recently and the well-known Turkish professor Dr. Naci Görür also mentioned the faults in Antalya, which, however, may affect Cyprus to a great extent.

Yoshinori Moriwaki warned about many areas of Turkey, but this time he spoke about the danger in Cyprus. Stating that the East Anatolia fault runs from Elazig, Kahramanmaras and Hatay to Adana and then to Cyprus, the Japanese expert said: “There may be about 7 Richter in Cyprus. Cyprus is one of the dangerous areas in this respect. I can say that this area is the first”.

“Earthquakes in Turkey go one after the other like dominoes. Bingöl-Karlıova, Muş and Bitlis are the second most dangerous areas. The third area is the Aegean side. There are very thin and small faults on the Aegean side. Why’ there are no big earthquakes, but they happen often. The fourth region is the region of Marmara. There are about 8 faults in the North Anatolian Fault Line. When one of the fault lines in the Marmara region breaks, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake can occur, and if several of them break together, a magnitude 7 earthquake can occur,” he said.
