It was one of the most influential and successful bands of the last 30 years. Now, Daft Punk has announced that their joint journey is coming to an end and they did it as they know best: with a mini-film. Their spokeswoman, however, limited herself to simply confirming the twin breakup, without giving further details.
Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo first wore their most famous helmets in 1993 when they were officially christened Daft Punk. Their first complete record came in 1997 and since then they have given us success through their characteristic now electronic or disco sound. Their first big hit came in 1995 with the song '' Da Funk '' while around the world they became known with the hit '' Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger '', in 2001, which may have been heard as a sample in song “Stronger” by Kanye West. Their most recent album was released in 2013, and included the huge hit “Get Lucky”, with vocals by Pharrell Williams. The album and their single brought them a number of Grammys awards and worldwide acclaim from critics.
In addition to their own songs, they have collaborated with The Weeknd on two songs, the world hit “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming”.
The 8-minute farewell video begins with footage from the 2006 film “Electroma”, in which they walk in the desert before parting ways. Despite the announcement, the unconventional tactics that follow have already started theories that maybe this is not their final end, and maybe they will start something new together.
