Products are withdrawn from Cyprus market – They contain dangerous chemicals

Dangerous chemical substances in products available on the Cypriot market was detected by the Labor Inspection Department, following a campaign to control plastic products as part of the application of the of Chemical Substances Legislation.
It is a bath mat, an exercise ball and a 4 kg exercise bar.
As stated in a press and information office announcement, during of the campaign 8 samples of toys were taken to check their content of phthalates.
Phthalates are substances characterized as toxic to reproduction and included in the restrictions of Annex XVII of the Regulation REACH (points 51 and 52). According to these restrictions, products containing specific phthalates in concentrations greater than 0.1% by weight in plasticized material must not be placed on the market.
