Today, Saturday, in a new session that will begin at 16.00, the Nicosia Municipal Council will decide on the issue of the listed buildings in old Nicosia that were demolished by the Archdiocese.
The issue was discussed on Thursday afternoon in a long session of the Municipal Council. After the meeting, the Mayor of Nicosia, Konstantinos Giorkatzis, stated that the discussion was long because the issue is extremely serious.
All City Councilors, he said, want the restored to be restored. Suggestions were submitted by the Municipality and Municipal Councilors.
The Mayor of Nicosia also said that the technical services of the Municipality and the Archdiocese are in contact.
According to information from KYPE, the decision to refer the matter to a session today, Saturday, was taken by a majority. The same information states that during the long session the positions of the competent services of the Municipality were presented which are included in a multi-page document and the postponement was decided in order to enable the more complete study of the document.
