The average salaries of employees in Cyprus in 2022 showed a decrease after seven years in real terms, according to the annual data presented today by the Statistical Service, with the median salary amounting to €1,701 from €1,606 in 2021.

In nominal terms, average gross monthly earnings have increased by 7.1% over the previous year, while in real terms, i.e. deflated by the Consumer Price Index, average gross monthly earnings have decreased by 1.2%. According to the historical data of the Statistical Service, this is the first annual decrease in real terms since 2014.
According to the data, the average monthly gross earnings by sector of economic activity range between €918 in sector of Agriculture, Hunting and Forestry and €4,011 in the sector of Financial and Insurance Activities.
According to the Statistical Service, regarding the percentage distribution of employees by group of gross monthly earnings, the highest percentage of employees (15 .4%) corresponds to the group of employees receiving between €1,000 and €1,249.
