The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, expresses satisfaction with the rise by 9.8% in tourist arrivals in March, according to the data released on Wednesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service.
“What makes us happy is that, despite the challenges, the tourism of our country confirms evidence of resilience,” noted Mr. Koumis in a written statement. He added that the Deputy Ministry monitors every development that either directly or indirectly affects the tourism sector and always tries to find solutions. challenges in the last period of time, such as the geopolitical instability in the Eastern Mediterranean region, the economic instability in Central and Western European markets, but also the negative circumstances in the aviation sector.
“We remain optimistic that the goal we have set for a performance similar to last year will be achieved”, he says.
He adds that the priorities for 2024 are the continuous improvement of the tourism product of Cyprus, a goal which is reflected through the incentive plans that have been announced in recent months, and which aim both to improve the attractiveness of the destination and to further strengthen the resilience of tourism businesses.
The data published on Wednesday by Statistical Service, show a 9.8% increase in tourist arrivals in March 2024, amounting to 202,256, compared to 184,263 in March 2023. For the period January – March 2024, arrivals amounted to 415,251, compared to 393,893 in the corresponding period period of 2023, an increase of 5.4%.
The main sources of tourist arrivals for the month of March were the United Kingdom (64,414), Poland (21,054) and Germany (19,732).
