The new fixed fares to and from the airports will be implemented from March 1, 2021 as announced by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works.
Specifically, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announced that the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works has set, for leases made to and from airports, as fixed fares, for taxi categories, urban and rural, the prices shown in the most bottom Table. The aim is to solve the timeless problem that mainly concerns the appropriate information of visitors / tourists in Cyprus and the passenger public in general. The establishment of fixed fares is expected to give credibility to taxi transport and, consequently, to improve professionalism and increase passenger traffic in this area.
The fares that have been set are fixed, ie it is not allowed to charge any other amount, either lower or higher.
The determination of the fares was made after the recommendation of the Road Traffic Transport Council and on the basis of the powers given to the Minister from paragraph (5) of article 9 of the Laws on the Regulation of the Traffic Transport from 1982 to 2019.
The Road Traffic Transport Council, in which the Licensing Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, the Director General of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the CCCI and the Road Transport Department participate, reached its recommendation after consultation and after taking seriously the suggestions from stakeholders and in particular the associations of taxi owners and professionals.
Notification
The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, exercising the powers given to him by subsection (5) of article 9 of the Laws on the Regulation of Traffic Transport from 1982 to 2019, determines for the leases made to and from the airports as fixed fares for the categories of taxis, urban and rural, from March 1, 2021 the following:
