The performance of the National Theater in Salamina, under the chairmanship of the Board. of THOK, Giannis Toumazis, pulled DIKO from its drawers to oppose his appointment as Deputy Minister of Culture. A few years ago, the National Theater of Greece presented “Ancient Antigone” in ancient Salamis, an act for which DIKO and other forces (EDEK, Solidarity and ELAM) strongly opposed. DIKO expresses disappointment for the fact that President Anastasiadis has appointed as Deputy Minister of Culture a man who has proven to disrespect our culture, as he was directly involved in organizing the illegal concert in Ancient Salamina in the occupied territories.
It is recalled that this person had strongly disagreed with the Department of Antiquities, which at the essential time, had very rightly pointed out the illegality of this concert.
We call on President Anastasiadis to realize the huge important, especially for our semi-occupied homeland, is the defense of our culture through the newly established State Department of Culture.
