Dimitris Tsierkezos is this year's King of the Famagusta Carnival

    The King of this year's Famagusta Carnival was officially presented at a press conference held at Paralimni Town Hall.

    In a statement, the Paralimni Municipality states that it is >Dimitris Tsierkezos, known in the local community and as “Pepe” who is a perennial carnivalist. Theme of this year's King is Carnival Extravaganza.

    The conference was held in the presence of the Mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis, the President of the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Paralimni Tasos Vlittis, the member of the Committee Maria Moulazimis and the member of the Famagusta Carnival Committee Costas Herodotou.

    All the participants in the conference invited people to actively participate in all the events of this year's Carnival.

    Dimitris Tsierkezos, “known in the local community as “Pepe”, in profession is a hairdresser and maintains his own hairdressing salon in Paralimni. He participates in the Famagusta carnival from the very beginning, and has taken part in all the carnival parades, as well as the carnival events that take place every year. At the same time, he is an active member in various cultural ensembles taking part in a multitude of events.

    The events start on Maundy Thursday, March 7, when the King of Carnival will receive the scepter from last year's royal couple, Christianas Siopacha and Costas Florentzou.

    On Saturday March 9will be held at the Beach of Agia Triada at 10:00, carnival parade by sea from the Sports for All program. Participants will take their SUP boards and enter the water in a carnival mood, which will be in keeping with the days ahead.

    On Saturday 16th March at 16:00 , the “Contemporary Children's Shadow Theatre” will present the children's show “Skantzis the Skantzochirakis in Karnavaloupolis” in the hall of the Paralimni Town Hall.

    On March 16, the traditional evening foot parade will be held at 20:00, in the central streets of Paralimni.

    All the participants together, each with the theme they choose to dress up in will spill out into the streets and dance samba and other rhythms.

    The parade will end in square of Paralimni, where a wild party will be set up.

    The carnival events culminate on Sunday 17 March with the Famagusta provincial carnival parade which will be held along Protaras Avenue in Paralimni.
